Remote help: installing RustDesk on a computer
Use RustDesk (open-source remote desktop); both people need it. On a computer:
- Install: download it from this page's Download center → RustDesk for your system (Windows: usually 64-bit; Mac: by chip; Linux: via Flathub).
- Steps 3 and 4 are for Mac only; on Windows and Linux skip straight to step 5.
- Mac permissions: in System Settings → Privacy & Security, enable RustDesk under both Screen Recording and Accessibility, then quit and reopen it.
- If the Mac says it is “damaged”: open Terminal (Applications → Utilities), paste the command below, press Return and type your login password (nothing shows while you type):
sudo xattr -rd com.apple.quarantine /Applications/RustDesk.app - Connect to our server: log in and click Copy below, then in RustDesk open Settings → Network → Unlock network settings → ID/Relay server, click the clipboard icon at the top right of the dialog and press OK. Don’t paste it into the input fields.
- Start a session: the person being helped tells the helper the ID and one-time password on the main screen; close the connection window to end it.
Our support will never ask you out of the blue to install remote software or hand over a connection code — verify any such request in our official group first.
